The ENSP-SRP 4th International Conference on Tobacco Control has the support and participation of distinguished colleagues and tobacco control activists at all levels, including plenary speakers, workshops' and symposia organisers, researchers presenting their novel work. Starting from this edition of "The Network",  in every Newsletter, we would like to introduce you to the keynote presenters you will meet in Bucharest very soon.
Head of the Convention Secretariat WHO FCTC
Dr Vera Luiza da Costa e Silva

Dr da Costa e Silva is a medical doctor, with a PhD in Public Health and Epidemiology and a Master’s degree in Business Administration for the Health Sector.


She was appointed Head of Secretariat of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control (WHO FCTC), the UN’s tobacco control treaty, in June 2014. She directs support for the Parties to the Convention, so enabling them to implement their obligations under the treaty. She also supervises arrangements for the Convention’s Conference of the Parties (COP) and translates the decisions taken into programme activities.

Over the past two decades, Dr da Costa e Silva has worked around the world, engaging in tobacco control activities in many countries and publishing numerous academic articles.

GGTC : Open letter to the Director General and Executive Board of the WHO
Members of the Global Public Health Community reunited in order to write a letter expressing their concearn at the attempt by the Philip Morris International-funded entity to pave the road for partnership with the Worls Health Organization (WHO). 

OSH: Anti-tobacco initiatives in Hainaut, Belgium
The Belgian organisation "L'Observatoire de la Santé" (OSH) released its annual bulletin which aims to inform Belgian and international proffessionals about the activities on prevention and promotion of health, phisical activity and better-quality air.

In this issue, the OSH, an active member of the No Tobacco Wallonia Plan 2019/30, highlights one of the facets of the work of smoking cessation professionals in Hainaut.

Each abstract receives a unique Digital Object Identifier (DOI) and hence is individually citable, indexed and downloadable in full text. All authors retain full copyright of their abstract under a CC BY-NC 4.0 license.
